Terms and Conditions
Please read the following terms and conditions carefully. Once signed and accepted onto a course at Brighton Make up School, these terms and conditions apply. This is a legal agreement between yourself (the student) and Brighton Make up School (the school).
1. Payments and Bookings
1.1 A booking is not confirmed until written notification of acceptance by a representative of Brighton Make up School has been received and the deposit has been paid (1.1.2)
1.2 Once a place has been confirmed by a representative of Brighton Make up School, a 25% deposit of the total course price will be required within 24 hours. No places can be held or reserved without receipt of the deposit in cleared funds. The deposit is non refundable and will be retained on any cancelled bookings as laid out in these terms and conditions as an administration fee. The deposit is only refundable within 24 hours of the initial deposit payment being made or if the course is cancelled by the School (2.2.4)
1.3 The total courses fees will be required no later than 14 days prior to the course starting. Brighton Make up School reserves the right to remove the student from the course and allocate the place to another student if fees have not been paid in time.
1.4 If the booking is considered a ‘late booking’ i.e. less than 14 days before the course is due to commence, then the full courses fees will be required on booking.
1.5 Any deposits, course fees or other monies due can be paid by BACS payment, cheque (allowing sufficient time for clearance), card machine/device where available or cash by arrangement only.
1.6 All courses and fees are subject to change without prior notice.
1.7 Every effort is made to keep the school’s website (www.brightonmakeupschool.co.uk) fully updated, however any information, availability or prices listed on the school’s website, internet or social media accounts may not be updated and correct. The student is advised to contact Brighton Make up School to confirm information, course availability and/or current pricing information.
2. Cancellations
2.1 If any student fails to attend the course for any reason (i.e. illness, personal problems etc) then no deposit or course fees will be refundable nor will any transfer to a different date be offered.
2.2 If the student cancels the course more than 30 days before the course commencement date, course fees less the deposit, which is non refundable (1.1.2) will be refunded in full.
2.3 Brighton Make up School reserves the right to cancel or amend any course, change location or substitute teachers/tutors.
2.4 In the unlikely event that Brighton Make up School cancels a course, the school endeavours where possible to give the student at least 1 week’s notice. The student will be offered a place on the next available course date or a full refund of any deposit and course fees paid.
2.5 Brighton Make up School will not be liable for any losses (including, but not limited to, travel, accommodation, childcare costs) arising as a consequence of any cancellation of courses and amendments as set out above and beyond the cost of the course fee.
2.6 Should Brighton Make up School be required to postpone or delay a course or class for reasons they are responsible, including but not limited to staff illness, they will make every reasonable effort to reschedule the class or add the missed hours onto the remaining course classes.
2.7 Brighton Make up School will not be liable for the consequences of any delay in or failure to run any Course arising from Force Majeure. Force Majeure includes but is not limited to acts, events or omissions beyond the reasonable control of Brighton Make up School.
2.8 Brighton Make up School reserves the right to cancel a course at any time and offer an alternative date, credit or a refund, without any liability for consequential or indirect loss.
3. Transfers
3.1 Any date transfer requests must be received in writing and no later than 14 days prior to the course commencement date. A £50 administration fee will be payable for any transfers.
3.2 Transfers cannot be made once the course has started or less than 14 days before the original course commencement date.
3.3 The choice of course date must be specified at the time of booking and must be within 6 months of the originally booked course date. Availability on the request course date must be confirmed by a representative of Brighton Make up School.
4. General and Behaviour
4.1 Students are expected to work on each other on every course unless otherwise specified. If the student does not wish to be worked on, they must bring a model with them on the day. The model may be asked to come back later in the day when the practical session begins.
4.2 The student must inform the teacher of any known allergies or sensitivities that may affect them being involved in the practical aspect of the course. The student must inform the teacher immediately if they feel any reactions or illness during the practical or course at anytime.
4.3 Students are required to conduct themselves in a professional manner during the course, towards the teacher and fellow students. If a student is persistently disruptive, abusive or excessively late, the teacher or another representative of Brighton Make up School reserves the right to offer a verbal or written warning, and in more extreme cases, ask the student to leave the course with no refund of any course fees, deposit or transfer offer.
4.4 The use of audio or recording equipment is not permitted during the course. However, students may use a camera to take pictures of their work during the practical sessions.
4.5 Students should wear appropriate comfortable clothing and footwear during the course bearing in mind they will be using cosmetic products on the course.
4.6 Mobile phones may not be used in class, including texting, emailing or answering/making calls, unless with the permission of the teacher.
4.7 Students are expected to arrive on time and to all the classes specified at time of booking.
4.8 No smoking or eating is permitted during class times.
4.9 A 30 minute lunch break is scheduled into each course timetable.
4.10 No item, equipment, books, products etc may be removed from Brighton Make up School without the permission of the teacher. All items including cosmetic products, skin care products, hair products, nail products, hair and make up brushes, disposables etc remain the property of Brighton Make up School. Excluded from this is the complimentary professional make up brush set given to students on the Starter make up course and Professional Make up Artist Diploma course.
4.11 Students must notify Brighton Make up School and the course teacher of any medical conditions or special requirements they may have.
4.12 Students leaving personal belongings at Brighton Make up School do so at their own risk. Brighton Make up School accepts no responsibility or liability for any loss or damage. Theft is not tolerated and the student will be asked to leave immediately without any refund or transfer offered.
4.13 Any damage to the School will be chargeable to the student. The facilities and equipment should be left in an acceptable state.
4.14 All students must be at 16 years old. Proof of age and identity is request on booking.
